She's best known for her character Ashley Banks on the sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel Air. She began singing when she was 4. Her mother encouraged her to bring her to an audition with Sesame Street. She started her career as a regular performer in 1985 at the age of 6 young girl on Sesame Street, a PBS children's program. She was a part of numerous Broadway shows in New York City, including Fences (with James Earl Jones as well as later Billy Dee Williams) and Orfeo del Campo (off-Broadway). At the age of seven, she appeared on Star Search and won twice with a rating of four stars when she appeared for another time.
